Imagine this scenario.
You get a raise at work. The initial glow is awesome but then half a second later, your mind starts racing.
What if they expect more from me now?
What if I can’t live up to my new responsibilities?
What if the company goes under? How will I support myself then?
Can you relate?
The Games We Play
Whether it’s a raise, a compliment from your spouse or an “intuitive hit” that was right on, it’s easy to fall into the trap of “what if” (aka the worst-case scenario) and scarcity thinking. Your pulse starts to race, your breathing gets shallow and your mind is so far off in some non-existent future hell that you can’t even enjoy the good that just came your way! When we indulge in self-defeating thoughts that have not even manifested yet, our energy drops, our outlook feels bleak and any good juju we collected from a personal win (small or large) feels overshadowed and well, gone.
Here’s the big question: Do you want to play the “SCARCITY ” game or the “CELEBRATION” game?

The Good News
But the good news is that this is TOTALLY within our control. Whenever you feel that all-too familiar tug to dump negativity and fear after something really awesome happens to you, instead of giving into it (boring and non-productive), what if you actually let yourself CELEBRATE it?
Yes, CELEBRATE! This goes one step up from gratitude and appreciation. Think of a childhood birthday party you went to and enjoyed. Maybe it wasn’t the coolest venue or the cake wasn’t the one you actually wanted with the real frosting but somehow, it was still usually a pretty fantastic day, right?
You smiled a lot, you laughed, you walked around for days with a goofy grin on your face (especially if your crush came to the party) and even when crappy things came your way, they didn’t phase you because you were still “at the party” in your mind.
What if you brought that kind of CELEBRATION energy into your life EVERY DAY?
What could be possible THEN?
Celebration Mode
When we are in “Celebration” mode, our moods are elevated, we are grounded, the endorphins are running, we glow and inevitably, others pick up on that glow and by Diana Dorell’s Law of Energy Exchange (I made that up), we open for more wonderful things to come our way.
3 Ways to Get There
How you celebrate is less important than committing to celebrating! Below are some of my favorite ways to get into celebration mode. Remember-it’s an ENERGY thing. No need to bust the bank.
1. Write the following phrase in a journal or post-it:
“Today, I TOTALLY ROCK because…….” (writing it makes it real and if you’re embarrassed that someone will walk by and see it, well then get a journal already!)
2. Victory Lap It!
Take a short walk around the block. Consider this your Victory Lap (it’s all about intention baby!) and that every minute you walk celebrating your success, the Universe is rewarding you with something new!
3. Splurge (Actually Spending Money is Optional)
Buy yourself flowers or if you can’t spend money, go to the flower shop or another store you love and “mentally”/energetically visualize yourself buying something special to recognize this special win. Your body won’t know the difference and you’ll still get the “Celebration” high! Wohoo!
