“Why should we use our creative power? Because there is nothing that makes people so generous, joyful, lively, bold, and compassionate, so indifferent to fighting and the accumulation of objects and money.”-Brenda Ueland You are the most powerful person in the world. Some of you may light up and smile agreeing with me (I know the Leo readers are lapping up that statement!), while others of you may find yourself turning red and wanting to hide underneath your desks. Whatever your reaction may be, it is true. You are the most powerful person in the world. YOUR world, which let’s face it, IS the most important world. Before we can truly believe we are connected to the Whole (which we are!), we must feel connected to ourselves. And to feel connected to ourselves, we have to tap into our power. Our Creative Power.
What is Creative Power? It has been called so many things. The “Zone,” your “Zen” space, passion, drive, and on it goes. Basically it boils down to this:
1)Without thinking, what is one activity/hobby you loved as a child? Be honest!
2)What would you do right now for free if you were guaranteed financial freedom and unconditional love?
Notice any overlaps in your answers and see how you could start incorporating it into your life TODAY. Maybe you loved Play-Doh (I liked to eat it as a child much to my mother’s horror. I loved feeling it against my fingers and the salty smell. I now love to make chocolate chip cookies and my favorite part is kneading the dough.) Do you secretly want to work with your hands? Pottery, fabrics, massage therapy, Reiki, etc. could be your outlets. Maybe you loved talking to “yourself” in the garden or riding a tricycle down the street. You might find that you have a natural gift for communicating with Fairies and could give Fairy/Angel readings or you may look into mechanical engineering or physics-related pursuits.
The key is to pay attention to what part of the activity or object made you so satisfied. Was it the smell? Was it working alone and putting something together? Was it the color? Take some time to reflect on the particulars of this childhood pastime because while the objects and situations may have totally shifted, the facets of it that brought you peace still remain.
No, it may not make you a million dollars. It may not turn into your life’s work. It may not bring you the answers you seek. But, I’ll tell you one thing. It just might. When you lose yourself in something you love, no matter how insignificant it appears to others, you radiate pure joy and creativity. And what the world needs now is that joy. The world needs you. You are the most powerful person in the world. So, what are you waiting for?
